The phrase "Know 'Bout It" is copyrighted by the U.S. Copyrights and Patent Office in Washington, D.C. The phrase came about when Dr. Jackson would teach and educate her students, she would say, "Y'all got to Know' Bout This." When the students would get something correct, she would say, "Come on with it. You better Know 'Bout It." The phrase became catchy among other faculty, staff, family, and friends.
Dr. Arndra Jackson and Dericca Gail are educators in the Bibb County School District at The Academy as well as entrepreneurs. Our goals are to educate others on various topics and to deter conflicts through meaningful and purposeful communication and conversation starters through our brand. Disagreements stem from miscommunication and not knowing the individuals. Our brand is to connect the missing puzzle by sparking a conversation between individuals. Relationships build with conversations. When you are wearing our brand, our intention is to start a conversation between people and to educate on various topics. Get to know one another
before pre-judging them.
We are educators! Know 'Bout it!
Know 'Bout It (KBI) educates and communicates innovatively through artistic designs by providing quality
products and information for all consumers.
“To become leaders in promoting communication and social awareness about the humanity of
people around the world.”
Dr. Arndra Nicole Jackson is a native of Reynolds, Georgia and a resident of Perry Georgia. She is the daughter of E.C. and Gwendolyn Corbin and the proud wife of Leon Jackson, who is also a successful entrepreneur of two businesses, the mother of 2: Breondra and Damorian, and the grandmother of 1, Zuri. She graduated from Taylor County High School in Butler, Georgia. She is a proud graduate of The Fort Valley State University where she obtained her BBA in Marketing, Albany State University where she obtained her MBA, and the University of Phoenix where she obtained her doctorate in Educational Leadership. Dr. Jackson is in the youth ministry. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Additionally, she was an event planner for over 20 years. Dr. Jackson has over 20 years of supervisory and managerial experience. She has a passion for education! Ironically, she never wanted to become an educator. Her dream career was to become a lawyer. God had other plans. Currently, she has over 15 years in education both as a college professor and as a high school educator. Dr. Jackson teaches business and technology and those 21st century skills that are needed in the workforce. She loves to travel and meet new people. She prides herself in fashion. She carefully coordinates her shoes, clothes, jewelry, and hats, which she collects all. She has a style of her own. She possesses these attributes: dependable, dedicated, persistent, hard worker, integrity, creative and critical thinker, analytical, organization, and great communicator. She lives by the motto: "I can do all things through Christ that strengthened me."
Dericca Gail is originally from southeast and southwest Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Dr. Clara Sheffield and James “Bro” Gail. She is the oldest siblings of two brothers and the stepdaughter of Otis Brooks Sheffield, and Auntie to Camora, Leighanna, Na-Na, and Ava. Dericca graduated from Bainbridge High School and continued her education at The Unsinkable Albany State University, where she majored in Criminal Justice and Political Science. After working for the Department of Criminal Justice for one and a half years, she felt like she was not making a meaningful, positive, and impactful experience for the young people she served. At that moment she knew her purpose was to become an educator, one who develops the skills of empathetic, listening, and communication. These skills have been
developing for over 20 years now! As the song lyrics go, “I get it from my Mama!" In her experience of being an educator, she have been trained in restorative practices, social and emotional learning, and teaching the whole child. She has traveled all over the United States presenting the importance of the social well-being of adults and children. While encouraging participants to promote a positive
environment for all no matter how uncomfortable a situation may be, there is always room for understanding. She has always been a collector of sneakers and t-shirts. When Dr. Jackson kept saying “Know 'Bout It,” the quote struck a chord! It opens one to start a conversation and open communication lines between people that may not necessarily talk to each other. Fashion that is conscious, meaningful, and that aims to bridge gaps between humanity is what our brand promotes. As Nat Turner stated ~” Good Communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity.”
